In a cookie jar, ¼ of the cookies are chocolate chip, and ½ of the rest are peanut butter. What fraction of all the cookies is peanut butter?

imagine you divide the jar into 4 parts and one of those parts is filled with chocolate chip. then, you divide all those four parts in half and end up with eight parts. one of those parts is filled with peanut butter cookies.
