Okay, so in this problem you can see there is the fraction 2/5 and he has 20 apples.

First thing we do. Is divide 2/5 and we get... 
0.4

Now we take 0.4 and multiply that by 20. Which gives you the answer of...
8!

This means that Ron used 8 apples to use for pies!
