A convergent boundry forms where two plates collide. When a two less-
dense continental plate collide, the southern plate sinks under the edge of
the northern plate in a process called subduction.

It’s also known as a destructive plate boundary.

The oceanic crust subducts, melts and rises to form volcanoes. The plates may get ā€˜stuck’ at one point, oceanic crust is still trying to subduct, pressure builds up, plates get ā€˜unstuck’ triggering huge esrthquakes.
