Given a line segment that contains the points A,B, & C in order, and given that B is the midpoint of AC, if AB = 3x + 6, and BC = X + 14,find x.

Since B is the midpoint of AC.

AB = BC

3x + 6 = x + 14

Solve for x :

3x - x = 14 - 6

2x = 8

x= 8/2

x= 4
