Given:

[tex]y=f(x+a)[/tex]

y = f(x + a) is a horizontal translation left by a units.

Hence, the coordinate is transformed as shown;

[tex](x,y)\rightarrow(x-a,y)[/tex]

Hence, since it is a horizontal translation to the left, it is translated by -a units from the original x-coordinate given.
