Let the unknown number be x.

Given,

[tex]10 * x = 12 + \frac{5}{8} * x[/tex]

[tex]10x = 12 + \frac{5x}{8} [/tex]

[tex]10x - \frac{5x}{8} = 12[/tex]

[tex] \frac{(10x*8)-5x}{8} = 12[/tex]

[tex]80x-5x =12*8[/tex]

[tex]75x = 96[/tex]

x = [tex] \frac{96}{75} [/tex] = 1.28

Hence, the number is 1.28
