When increasing 2800 by 24% we have to do this:

2800 * 24 = 67200

67200 / 100 = 672 (this is a 24% increase)

To get the final number which is the 2800 that is increased by 24%, we have to add up the 2800 with the 672

2800 + 672 = 3472
