put ur equation in y = mx + b form because the slope will be in the m position.

5x + 3y + 12 = 0
3y = -5x - 12
y = -5/3x - 4

y = mx + b
y = -5/3x + (-4)......as u can see, the number in the m position (the slope) is -5/3 <===
